Abstract
667,792. Conveyers. HAPMAN, H. W. Aug. 23, 1949. No. 21851/49. Class 78 (i). An endless flexible conveyer structure has a series of conveyer flights and a series of tubular members to retain the flights in spaced apart relation. Plates 10 are threaded on cables 5 and have holes 12 provided for securing the flights 14 to the plates. The plates are separated by rubber sleeves 11. The ends of the cable are joined by plates 6 clamped together by bolts and nuts 8, 9. The plates and flights are recessed at 15 to allow the passage of a sprocket wheel 16 which engages the flights to drive the conveyer. Various modifications of the arrangement are described. The conveyer flight is clamped between two plates and to a plate threaded on the cable, alternatively, the plates and flight may directly engage with the cable. A single cable may be used and the ends of the cable may be coupled by two externally threaded sleeves which engage a third internally threaded sleeve. Instead of conveyer flights, buckets 76, Fig. 11, may be connected to the cables 75 which may be singly or in pairs the buckets having side flanges through which the cables are threaded or the buckets may be stamped from the flight. Alternatively, Fig. 15, the plates 99 may be mounted on a sleeve 96 on a cable 95 and secured by nuts 100. A coiled spring 101 stretches between two flights inside the rubber sleeving 102. One of the supporting plates may have a flange to provide a clearing device. The flights may be resilient and of any required shape to fit any shaped conduit and the parts are secured by rubber and similar cement.
