Abstract

666,719. Scrapers. MELDRUM, Ltd., T. Jan. 27, 1950 [March 9, 1949], No. 6380/49. Classes 61 (ii) and 61 (iii). [Also in Group VI] A combination tool for scraping the terminals and connector clips of batteries comprises a shank 10 having at one end a socket member 11 provided with a scraper blade 16 projecting inwardly through a longitudinal slot 14 and at the other end a conical stem 12 having helical teeth 13. The tool is rotated by a spindle having arms 22 and 23 provided with a screwdriver blade 24 and spanner 25. The scraper blade 16 is formed by bending over the end of a coiled, resilient metal strip supported on the socket 11 between the outwardly flanged end 17 and a shoulder 18. In a modification the metal strip is flanged to engage a circumferential groove in the socket and the interior of the socket is tapered. The Provisional Specification describes a scraper having a springy tubular socket provided with two or more longitudinal slots the edges of which are bent inwardly to form scraping edges.
