Abstract
666,520. Cathode-ray tubes. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and HILL, R. T. June 16, 1950 [May 25, 1949], No. 14027/49. Class 39 (i). The bowl-shaped pressing which forms the end of the cathode-ray tube carrying the luminescent screen comprises a sharply curved rim 3, and a central flat or shallow portion 1 which on both its inner and outer surfaces has the shape of a rectangle 4 superimposed on a circle 5 to form radially projecting corners 6. A flange 2 on the rim 3 may be glass-soldered to the envelope. The length of the rectangle 4 may equal the diameter of the circle 5, and the diagonal of the rectangle 4 may equal the maximum diameter of the rim 3. The screen may carry an aluminium layer on an intermediate layer of nitrocellulose which is deposited on a web surface.
