Class 20(ii) Shuttering 15 for casting walls in situ for a building, more particularly of aerated concrete, extends for the full storey height and has a knife edge at its foot which cuts into a damp-proof course 13 of bituminous felt &c. and forms a seal. Horizontal channel walings 11 adjustable in length and threaded through holes in flat plates 27 secured between the flanges of the metal shuttering. The shuttering is formed into cells by webs 126 clamped between the shutter flanges, and doors and windows are cast in cells formed by webs 25 by means of collapsable cores (not shown). The cores may have vertical risers up which the concrete rises. Tie pads 20, Fig. 4, connecting opposite shuttering are held between the flanges of the shutters by means of clips 31, Fig. 4, embracing turned back edges of the shutter flanges, a cotter pin 35 passing through the tie bar and clip. Shuttering for the roof is mounted on tie pads left embedded at the top of the wall and telescopically adjustable shuttering, Fig. 10 (not shown), is described for the eaves. In a modification the shutter flanges have beaded edges on which are slid and bolted tie pad clips 51, Fig. 5, in slots in which the tie bars 56 are secured by a wedge 57. The clips 51 have portions 54 supporting the walings 59. A further modification having tubular walings comprises a bridge piece, Fig. 7, which embraces the walings by arches 73 and is bolted to a box shutter between two shutters, the upper end 63 being bolted to the outside of this shutter and the lower end 64 being enclosed and bolted therein. A tie bolt passes through part 85. The bridge piece may be bolted to a wooden lath clamped between two shutters. The first Provisional Specification also describes webs retained in place by recesses on the inside of the shutters and tie bolts for the shuttering embracing the webs alternatively lugs on the webs pass through and are secured to the shuttering. The second Provisional Specification describes telescopic shuttering and also clips for securing tie-bars comprising arms pivoted together and gripping the shutter flanges by means of pads and secured to tie-bars by holed plates and cotter pins.
