663,376. Controllers; switchboards. BERTHIEZ, C. W. Dec. 22, 1948. [Dec. 22, 1947] No. 33044/48. Classes 38 (iii) and 38 (v). [Also in Group XXXVI] Relates to a pendant control station for an electrically-controlled motor driving machine tools, hoists, and the like, means being provided to allow relative rotation between the lower end of the suspending member and the control station. As shown, a control station 1, which comprises push-buttons, for example, is suspended from the end of a sheath 2 through which passes a cable connecting the control switches of the station 1 to contactors in the motor circuit. A ball bearing is placed between the member 1 and a sleeve 8 which is welded to the sheath 2 and carries a cup-shaped member 10. A flanged socket 12, expansible sleeve 13, washer 14, and nut 15 supplements the securing of the sleeve 8 to the sheath. The station may be rotated through substantially one revolution, rotary movement being restricted by abutment of members 16 and 23, the latter being carried on a cup-shaped member 18 which is fixed to the member 1. An inclination of the station from the vertical is allowed, the stud 16 being movable in recess 17. In a, modification, Figs. 2, 3 (not shown), the control station is suspended by means of a chain, and the connection between the cables leading to the control circuit of the motor and the switches of station 1 is made through slip-rings and brushes. This allows the station to be turned through more than one revolution. An inspection opening may be placed in the side of the member 1. Specification 663,379 is referred to.
