Abstract
1,067,708. Controlling swinging of loads in overhead cranes. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. March 1, 1966, No. 8933/66. Heading B8B. [Also in Division C3] Pendulum movements of the load suspended from the trolley of an overhead crane, propelled by an electric motor, are suppressed by control apparatus which computes the deflection angle of the load relative to the vertical and controls the speed of the trolley in accordance with that angle. The deflection angle a is computed from the expression where P 1 is the horizontal force on the trolley, P 2 the tensile force exerted by the suspended load, m 1 the mass of the load and b is a constant- These quantitites can be readily determined, P 1 and P 2 being proportional to the armature current of the trolley traction motor and hoist motor respectively. Various control circuits are diagrammatically illustrated. The invention may be applied to cranes in which the load trolley is moved in two directions at right-angles.
