Abstract

659,492. Rulers; drawing scales. MACLEAN, J. D. Feb. 3, 1949, No. 3012. [Class 97 (iii)] A rule or scale made from two strips 1, 2 of transparent thermoplastic material with bevelled outer edges 6 has the markings 3 process engraved or printed, in reverse, on the flat inner sides. The printed or engraved surfaces are coated with transparent lacquer 4 for protection, sprayed with paint to provide an opaque background 5 and then secured together with glue or cement 7. In a modification only one surface is process engraved or painted. According to the Provisional Specification the inner surfaces are sprayed with coloured lacquer before glueing.
