[Class 40 (iii)] The code translator of the parent Specification wherein a stack of cards having standard and elongated perforations, providing a distinctive pattern of aligned openings through which radiant energy operates an output register when a card is lowered by selector bars cooperating with a distinctive arrangement of marginal projections on the cards, is modified in that the perforated cards 36 are provided with standard wide marginal notches and a distinctive arrangement of narrow notches in which the selectorbars, bars 37 ... 39a ... 39e, engage to prevent sideways movement of the cards under the influence of a permanent magnet 42. The notches, selector bars and associated relay contacts are arranged for operation by a " twoout-of-five " code signals as in the parent case, and on completion of the input signal the relay 30 which controls the energization of the photocells 48 also moves the magnet 42 to withdraw the selected card which is not retained by the selector bars. The selector bars are suspended under the cards by pins 53 passing through inclined slots 50, 51 and are raised by electromagnets such as 10a, Fig. 2. The cards may have auxiliary perforations such as 63, 64 or elongated perforations as in the parent case to provide the distinctive pattern of aligned openings.
