Abstract
655,970. Load-handling machines. HUTCHINGS, J. F. Jan. 13, 1948, No. 32137. [Class 78 (iii)] [Also in Groups X and XV] A collapsable tower, mast, &c. which may carry an observation pavilion 1. comprises three lazy-tongs systems formed of links 2 coupled together to form a structure equilaterally triangular in cross-section. At the top and bottom of the tower, the links are connected to three sliding feet 4, 6. The tower, when collapsed, is contained in a cavity 10 and is raised by a motor with the aid of a counterweight 7 by sliding the feet inwards. The pavilion may be rotated. The pairs of links may be pivoted eccentrically so that the structure tapers. Springs or hydraulic means at the link pivots facilitate raising.
