Abstract
654,820. Milk-churns &c. FIRESTONE TYRE & RUBBER CO., Ltd. Dec. 14, 1948, No. 32284. [Glass 66] A milk-churn &c. of stainless steel &c. has a cylindrical body part 11 merging into an inwardly curved shoulder 21. a diverging neck 18 and an off-set cylindrical mouth-ring 24 with an air-tight head 25 having its edge welded to the ring 24. The lid 26 is a hollow tapered plug dished inwardly at 6 and 27, the tapered surface 29 fitting the neck 18, and a cylindrical headring 30 fitting the mouth-ring 24 so as to make continuous contact therewith during withdrawal of the lid, after the tapered parts 29, 18 have separated. The head-ring 30 of the lid is flared at the top and welded at 8 to the top of the lid, a flange 31 of which extends downwardly and is beaded at 32. The body 11 extends downwardly as a foot-ring 13, and has welded thereto a dished end-cap 14 and a false-bottom 15, the latter covering the crevice between the end-cap 14 and the foot-ring 13. Drainage slots 7 are provided, and the foot-ring is inwardly beaded at 19. The handles are of channelled stainlesssteel spot-welded to the neck 21, and sealed at their edges, to the neck, by soft solder.
