[Class 5(ii)] A nest-box assembly comprising a floor or seat consisting of a canvas strip detachably secured to a frame and divided by members 4 into dished compartments, each having an aperture 5, is hinged to a support 6 inside a poultry house. The assembly also comprises a pivoted egg-receiving platform 9 of wire-netting stretched on a frame, the platform sloping downwardly and rearwardly towards a tray 14. The tray 14 may be withdrawn from the exterior of the house through a longitudinal slot in the wall. The tray may be hinged to the platform so that tray and platform can slide together or the platform be pivoted relative to the tray. Pins 20 on the platform frame rest on ledges 21 on the floor frame so that the platform and floor can slide relatively to each other. The front edge of the assembly is supported by chains 22 engaging hooks 23 on the wall of the house. The assembly can be retracted against the wall by pulling a cable 24 which is secured by a finger-ring 26 placed over a screw 27. A wire may be stretched along the tray to act as a cushion for eggs rolling on to it. In a modified construction the nest floor is hinged to the platform along the forward edge access to the platform being obtained by lifting the floor. This assembly is provided with dowel pins removably engaging in sockets in supports fixed to the house. The apertures 5 may be closed by spring-loaded flaps 46, Fig. 8, these flaps together with their loading springs 48 being supported on wire-netting placed immediately beneath the canvas strip 1.
