Abstract

652,648. Power recovery circuits. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Feb. 25, 1948, No. 5628. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1947. [Class 40 (vi)] In a magnetic deflection circuit for a cathoderay tube in which undesired H.F. oscillations are removed by a damping valve, a D.C. potential developed across a capacitor in series with the valve is connected effectively in series with the D.C. supply to the power output valve of the scanning circuit by connecting one plate of the capacitor to the cathode of the power valve. The Figure shows a power recovery system for the line scanning circuit of a television receiver in which the linearity of the scanning current in the deflecting coils 14 is improved by varying the impedance of the damping valve 36 in accordance with a voltage 36 in accordance with a voltage fed to its grid via the wave shaping circuit 44, 46. The D.C. potential developed across capacitor 38 is connected effectively in series with the power supply B+, B - to the power output valve 10, thus increasing the efficiency of the circuit. The D.C. voltage at lead 62 may be used for other purposes in the receiver and the E.H.T. for the final anode of the cathode-ray tube is derived via the rectifier 30 from the voltage developed across the output transformer during the fly-back period. Adjustment of potentiometer 23 enables the centering of the scanning beam to be adjusted. Specifications 613,053, 622,847, [both in Group XXXV], and 632,365, are referred to.
