Abstract

651,881. Liquid-fuel burners. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd. April 26, 1948, No. 11387. Convention date, April 26, 1947. [Class 75 (i)] A liquid fuel burner has valves 34 and 40 in the supply lines 35, 41 for atomizing steam 35 and for liquid fuel 41 which valves are coupled in' such a manner to prevent the interconnection of the steam and fuel supply lines. When a lever 46 is moved to a position shown in Figs. 5, steam is supplied to a steam passage 26 and, through a branch pipe 49, to the liquid fuel supply passage 30 to purge and prevent overheating of the nozzle 10, and when such lever 46 is moved to a further position, Fig. 6 (not shown), steam is supplied through passage 26 and liquid fuel through passage 30 to the nozzle 10, and when moved to a further Fig. 4 (not shown), both the steam and liquid fuel supplies to the nozzle 10 are cut off. The burner nozzle 10 is described in Specification 649,157 and is removably mounted in a clamp 11 of a mounting 12.
