Abstract
650,511. Electric air heaters. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. July 24, 1948, No. 19846. [Class 39(iii)] [Also in Group VI] In an air heater for drying articles or parts of the person comprising a casing 10 containing an electric fan or impeller 16 propelling air over electric heaters 21 to one or more discharge openings 20, the casing having also one or more inlet ports 11 admitting unheated air over the fan motor 13 and another port or set of ports 25 to readmit some of the hot air from the openings 20 to be re-circulated by the fan, the effective area of the hot air re-admission ports 25 is adjustable. A manually rotated radially slotted disc 26 is mounted to overlap adjustably the radial ports 25 in a plate 24 in the casing. A bimetallic strip in the fresh air or hot air stream may be connected by a rod 30 to move the disc 26 to maintain the hot air temperature constant. The discharge openings 20 are diametrically opposite. The electric heaters 21 are described in Specification 650,512. According to the Provisional Specification, the area of the cold air inlet may be similarly adjusted, preferably by a coiled bimetallic strip. The valves for the hot and cold air may be interconnected so that as one opens, the other closes.
