Abstract

649,873. Extrusion dies for covering electric cable cores. PIRELLI-GENERAL CABLE WORKS, Ltd. Sept. 14, 1948, No. 24078. Convention date, Feb. 1, 1947. [Class 87 (ii)] A multiple die comprises a series of two or more simple dies 6, 7, 8, which are mounted in a tube 9 and have bores of successively increasing diameters, a guide member 5 for a wire 1, the guide member being located immediately in advance of the simple dies and being divided into sectors which bear resiliently on the wire and direct it centrally through the die 6, and supply channels for the guttapercha &c. arranged around the dies. The guttapercha is forced through an aperture 10, apertures 12 arranged in a circle, a filter 13 and so to the dies. The size of the apertures 12 is adjustable by means of valves 15 on screwed spindles. Preliminary centring of the wire is effected by bored members 2, 3.
