Abstract

648,433. Testing fuel-injection nozzles. C.A.V., Ltd. Aug. 11, 1948, No. 21175. [Class 7(iii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] Apparatus for ascertaining the variation of the rate of flow of liquid fuel discharged from a nozzle supplied by a pump comprises a series of narrow transparent cells such that when moved at an appropriate uniform speed across the discharge end of the nozzle successive cells receive successive portions of the discharged fuel. A series of cells a Fig. 3 each having an inclined slot b are clamped together by bolts d with a thin partition disposed between successive cells. The cell assembly is clamped in a bracket m mounted on a revolving disc f which is driven through gearing h from a shaft i coupled directly to the shaft of a fuel injection pump g. During rotation of the disc the cell assembly passes under a nozzle k supplied from the pump.
