Abstract

648,427. Packages. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd. June 8, 1948, No. 15420. [Class 94(i)] A package of the kind formed by enclosing articles in wrappers of heatsealing material is characterized in that the article 11 is enclosed by a pair of wrappers 12, 13 one of which, 12, is folded around the article in the form of an openended pocket embracing the article and outwardly in the general plane of the open end to form a surrounding flange 14, the other wrapper, 13, lying over the open end and being secured to the surrounding flange by means of heat and pressure, and that one or more pairs of slits 18 are cut in the surrounding seam thus formed to form one or more tabs for facilitating the opening of the package. An additional wrapper 17 of a larger size than the lower wrapper 13 is secured to the said lower wrapper 13. The additional wrapper 17 is preferably of a different nature and/or colour from that of the other wrappers. An insert of decorative material may lie between the upper wrapper and the upper surface of the article and extend into the surrounding seam.
