Abstract

646,743. Packages. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd. April 7, 1948, No. 9712. [Class 94(i)] A package of the kind formed by folding a wrapper of paper, film, foil or other wrapping material about an edible article of rectangular shape in the form of a tube with portions of the tube extending from the ends of the article and formed into end closures is characterised in that the wrapper consists of two pieces 12 of wrapping material opposing marginal portions of which lie in overlapping relationship in the form of a seam 14 extending around the article, and in that the end closures are each formed by first folding one side 16 of the extending portion of the tube on to the end face of the article so as to form a pair of side flaps 17 connected by the opposing side of the extending portion, and then folding the side flaps 17 on to the end face of the package thus causing triangular portions 19 of said opposing side to be doubled over to form a triangular end flap 21 extending from the end face of the package. The meeting faces of the seam may be lightly sealed. An inner wrapper of a width substantially equal to the length of the article may be provided.
