Abstract
646,190. Endless-belt conveyers. FISHER & LUDLOW, Ltd. Aug. 31, 1948, No. 22880. [Class 78 (i)] Endless-belt conveyer sections 10, 11 are connected together by means of two pairs of collars 25, one pair supporting each end of an idler roller 22, the collars of each pair being disposed one behind the other and connected respectively one with each section, in such a manner that the position of the collars can be adjusted longitudinally of their associated sections. Each pair of collars 25 is mounted on a bearing boss 20 having an inner recess to receive the adjacent end of the roller spindle. Each bearing boss is fixed in relation to the outer collar, the inner collar being freely mounted. Each outer collar is connected to section 11, and each inner collar to section 10, by means of an integral screwed stud 24 which is passed through a lug 23 in the appropriate plate 14 or 15, each of which is screwed to section 10 or 11 respectively. A nut 26 is screwed either way to adjust each collar relative to the lug 23, while the connection is made rigid by overlapping the plates 14 and 15 and providing them with slots 18 which cooperate to receive the bearing boss 20. A small idler roller 29 is mounted by its spindle 30 in plates 14 at each end and the projecting part of each spindle end travels in an arcuate slot 28 as the sections are pivoted about the boss 20 so as to limit the movement in either direction. Roller 22 supports the upper run 12 and roller 29 the lower run 13. Specifications 586,343 and 638,681 are referred to.
