[Class 40 (ii)] [Also in Groups XVI and XX] An arrangement for feeding and guiding a thin band comprises a guiding member, which may or may not be adapted to rotate, a driving member and a fixed stop arranged in the vicinity of the guiding member at one edge of the band, the arrangement being such that the band engages the guiding member helically at a small pitch and the resulting lateral movement of the band is limited by the stop. In the sound film apparatus shown in Fig. 1 the film 16 is fed past a sound gate between rollers 17, 19 which may be slightly conical or have enlarged end portions 20, 21. Consequently the film passes in a curved path between the rollers and is located transversely by a stop C.
