[Class 100 (i) ] [Also in Group XXXVIII] In a film-feeding mechanism for picture and/or sound records, means are provided whereby the edge of the film is brought laterally out of its natural path to register with a fixed abutment. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, the film 1 is fed over rollers 2, 3 in such a manner that one of the edges. of the film 1 always runs on the roller 2 at the same area. At the lower edge of the film 1, near a sound-gate 9, is provided an abutment 7 which is fixed in such a position that the film 1 is brought out of its natural path 6 over roller 3 into the path 8. The resulting distribution of tension causes the edge of the film 1 to register accurately despite marginal undulations. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2, the film 10 is fed over an untoothed driven roller 12, with which it is maintained in contact by a pressure-roller 13. In the vicinity of the roller 12 one edge of the film 10 is engaged between felt plates 21, the asymmetric force so produced causing the film 10 to be deviated from its natural path so that the edge of the film 10 registers with an abutment 22.
