[Class 64(i)] [Also in Group XX IX] In a water heater having a vessel 10 heated by thermostatically controlled electric, gas, or other means 12, cold water admitted through an inlet 13 at the centre of the bottom of the vessel is dispersed in a horizontal plane to minimize mixing with .,hot water, and forces hot water out through, an outlet 36 at the top to a mixing chamber 39, and the water supply to and the pressure of water in the heater are controlled by means responsive to the pressure of water in the heater. The inlet 13 is provided with arcuate radial fins 15 surmounted by a disc 16. The inlet 13 and mixing chamber 39 are connected by pipes 17, 41 to the outlet 19 from a chamber 20, Fig. 3, to which the water supply pipe 21 and drain pipe 22 are connected. Valves 24, 31 connected to flexible spring-pressed diaphragms 26, 33 control the entry of water from the supply pipe and the outlet to the drain pipe, in response to water pressure changes in the chamber 20. The inlet of cold water to the mixing chamber 39 from the pipe 41 is controlled by a sleeve valve 50, Fig. 2, operated by a bi-metallic strip 52 located in a passage 38 through which the hot water from the heater flows.
