Abstract
642,721. Loom temples. BECHTER, H. Jan. 30, 1947. Nos. 2899, 2900 and 2901. Convention dates, Feb. 16, 1946, March 23, 1946 and Aug. 31, 1946. [Class 142(ii)] [Also in Group XVI] A stretcher roller mechanism comprises a roller 1 having right hand and left hand threads 4, 3 respectively on its surface. The threads converge or diverge at the centre of the roller in the direction of movement of the cloth web according to whether the roller rotates with the web or is stationary respectively. The roller is subdivided into sections 11, each section having threads of constant pitch. The pitch increases from section to section from the centre to the ends of the roller. The cloth may be tensioned by passing round the edges of a longitudinal slot in a sleeve partly surrounding the roller. When weaving heavy fabrics, the roller may be spring-loaded to move in the direction of the movement of the cloth to counterteract the beat of the slay and to keep the cloth around the roller under tension. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 discloses a stretcher roller, with right and left hand threads of increasing pitch, increasing in diameter from the centre towards the ends, or alternatively, decreasing in diameter from the centre towards the ends. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
