Abstract
640,880. Pneumatic conveyers. KALMAN, J. Sept. 24, 1948, No. 25000. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group II] Hammer-mill means convertible to a pneumatic elevator comprises a hammer-mill 1, a blower 5 and a removable hopper 3, the hopper being capable of being either disposed on the hammer-mill to feed thereinto, Fig. 1, with the blower arranged to extract, through a duct 7, treated material from the hammer-mill and blow it out, or arranged to feed into an extended duct 12, Fig. 2, connected to the outlet of the blower, the said blower being made open at its intake side 13 directly to the atmosphere to take in air and blow it and the material in the duct through a conduit 15 for delivery at relatively distant points. The mill 1 and blower 5 may have a common driving motor 6 in which case the mill may be declutchable therefrom when required. The blower 5 may be arranged so that the number of its fanblades may be varied or their length modified to suit its use with the mill or with the elevator.
