Abstract

640,849. Automatic temperature control systems. STONE & CO., Ltd., J., and SHAVE, R. E. J. Sept. 9, 1948, No. 23759. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVI] Apparatus for detecting the condition of a eutectic cooler comprises two electrodes 5, 6 in contact with the eutectic, supplied with a stabilized A.C. voltage, and a meter 19 for measuring the resistance between them. The A.C. voltage is derived from a D.C. source 25, Fig. 1, by a vibrator 24, and stabilized by a network of resistors 21 and barretters 22, or may be obtained from a hand-driven, slipping-clutch generator. The current flow between the electrodes may be used to effect the operation of a relay 30 (Fig. 4, not shown), to operate refrigerating machinery and a warning device. The electrodes 5, 6 consist of a non-corrosive metal stem 7, Fig. 2, in an insulated bush 9, secured by a nut 15 inside a terminal box 13 which is welded to the main casing 1.
