Abstract
640,407. Corrugating. STANDARD-THOMSON CORPORATION. Jan. 22, 1948, No. 1973. Convention date, Jan. 29, 1947. [Class 83 (iv)] Apparatus for corrugating tubes comprises a forming machine, means for supplying liquid under pressure to the machine and a substantially inertialess accumulator to maintain a constant pressure during the forming operation. Liquid under pressure is supplied to the forming machine 2 which may be of the type described in Specification 324,134, [Class 83 (iv)], by means of a pump 10 through a valve 38, the pump plunger 12 being controlled by a solenoid valve 20 actuated in response to the opening or closing of a pressure-sensitive switch 52 according as the liquid pressure rises above or falls below its predetermined value. The pressure is maintained sensibly constant throughout the forming operation by an accumulator 30 containing a bladder 32 inflated to a desired pressure by air.
