Abstract
639,542. Resilient shaft-coupling. NAAMLOOZE VENOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. Oct. 21, 1946, No. 31237. Convention date, Feb. 12, 1943. [Class 80 (ii)] Shafts 1, 2, in a gramophone drive, are universally connected by tangential helical springs 5 (two shown) which are adjustably compressed to the buckling point so that, in action, use is made of their lateral elasticity, and each spring 5 is connected at its two ends to a pair of projections 6 on one shaft 1, and at its mid-point to a single projection 7 on the other shaft 2. Initial compression is adjusted by screws, not shown, on the projections at one or both ends. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states also that springs connected at their ends to alternate shafts may be used and that the initial stress may be applied torsionally. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
