Abstract
Alloys having good creep strength and resistance to scaling at high temperatures have the following composition: C 0.05-0.5 per cent, Mn 0.05-1.0 per cent, Si 0.05 -1.0 per cent, Cr. 9.0-15.0 per cent, Mo 0.2-1.2 per cent, V 0.2-2.0 per cent, Nb 0.07-1.5 per cent, Ta 0-1.43 per cent. Fe and the usual impurities being the remainder. The sum of the Nb and Ta contents is never greater than 1.5 per cent. The alloys may also contain W up to 1.0 per cent. The alloys may be forged, heated to 900-1200 DEG C, quenched in oil, air or water and tempered at 600-850 DEG C. They may be used in the production of rotors and blades for gas turbines.
