Abstract

638,099. Automatic voltage control systems ; rectifying. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Sept. 12, 1947, No. 25053. Convention date, Sept. 21, 1946. [Classes 38 (ii) and 38 (iv)] A self-magnetized transductor is further magnetized in proportion to the output by an additional component of current in one of the control windings so as to increase the selfmagnetizing effect. The output voltage of a rectifier 2, Fig. 1, is controlled by a selfmagnetized transductor 3 in series with the A.C. input and having control windings 5, 6 energized in opposition from the D.C. output through a linear resistor 7 and a voltage variable resistor 8 respectively, The voltage across the control winding 5 is greater than that across the winding 6 by an amount determined by a load current through a resistor 9 in series with the output, the resultant magnetization being additive to the selfmagnetization. In a further embodiment, Fig. 2, the output voltage of an alternator 11 is controlled by a voltage across resistor 14 which opposes the voltage across the selfexcited field winding 13 of the exciter 12. The voltage across resistor 14 is derived from a rectifier 15 supplied from the alternator output via a self-magnetized transductor 16 having control windings 18, 17 energized in opposition from the alternator output through a linear resistor 21 and rectifier 22, and a voltage variable resistor 19 and rectifier 20 respectively. The circuit of control winding 18 includes a further resistor 23 in series with the input to the transductor so that the voltage across the control winding is reduced by a component proportional to the transductor load current, thereby reducing the magnetic effect of winding 18 and since this winding opposes the self-magnetization, the self-magnetization is effectively increased. The invention may also be applied to transductor regulators having one control winding instead of two. Specifications 446,790, 554,525, and 588,822 are referred to.
