Abstract
637,646. Loud-speakers. LEAVIS, J. E. Sept. 18, 1946, No. 27934. [Class 40 (iv)] The emitters 10, 11 of a loud-speaker are arranged on opposite sides of the throat of a trumpet 12 and are axially disposed at a right angle or at least at a substantial angle of more than 30 degrees to the axis of the trumpet, a baffle member 15 being provided to divide the trumpet over part of its length into two portions each associated with one of the emitters. The radiations from the back of the emitters are caused to travel along relatively long paths formed by partitions of sound - absorbing material 24 in boxes 20 having opposed outlets 21, 22. The baffle member 15 is made of a hollow framework surfaced with plaster of Paris, cement or other non-resonant material.
