Abstract

631,799. Loud-speakers. FORRESTER, J. June 24, 1946, No. 18828. [Class 40 (iv)] A loud-speaker unit 2 is mounted at and directed into one end of a tube 1, the other end 4 of which is closed by a non-vibratory barrier. The tube 1 is provided with an aperture adjacent to the loud-speaker unit, which may be formed in the wall of the tube, or as shown in the Figure, may be formed by the open end 3, the loud-speaker unit then having a smaller frontal area than the crosssectional area of the tube at this end. The aperture may be made variable. The tube may be convoluted and may progressively increase in area from the closed end to the end at which the loud-speaker unit is located.
