[Class 52 (iii)] [Also in Group XVII] A picnic case with fixed end walls 11 has hinged side walls that can be swung into alignment with the base, a flanged top wall or lid 14 that embraces the upper edges of the walls and is releasably connected to walls 12 and hinged loop members 17 that jointly serve as a carrying handle and can be swung apart to support the inverted lid as a table. The case may be supported off the ground by vertically slidable legs 23, Fig. 4 that can be held in extended position or in retracted position, within the case, by spring bolts 25, Fig. 6 (not shown), engaging holes 24 or 26 and the side walls may be provided with hinged struts 44 for the same purpose. The inner face of the case may be recessed to receive food containers, which may themselves be recessed on top to take cups and other containers, and one of the side walls 12 may have spring clips to support crockery and cutlery. The lid may have a rubber sheet 43 within it to engage the vessels carried by the base and the handle members 17 may be connected by a split sleeve 19. Marginal flanges 20 on the walls 12 engage grooves in the end walls when the case is closed.
