Abstract
634,876. Rope railways. QUALTER, HALL & CO., Ltd., and HALL, T. Aug. 15, 1947, No. 22740. [Class 104 (ii)] A mechanical creeper for wheeled mine cars carried upon a track comprises one or more uniform endless chains, the links of which engage directly with co-operating means fitted under the mine car, the engagement being such as to allow slip to take place upon overdrive of the car. The co-operating means may comprise either a transverse bar or mild steel pads fitted under the car in a position to engage the links of the chain. Figs. 2 and 4 show an example wherein a truck B with wheels running on a pair of rails 11 is provided on the underside with a pair of brackets 18 between which is mounted a transverse bar 17 of circular cross section arranged to be engaged by the links of a pair of parallel endless chains 6, 7 which pass around end sprockets 8, 9 driven by a motor C at one end. The chains and sprockets are mounted on a frame 10 arranged under and between the car track and adjustable in height to enable a portion of the weight of a car to be carried by the chains to ensure the drive. Fig. 3 shows steel pads 12 secured to a transverse member 13 forming part of the undercarriage of the car.
