Abstract

634,210. Inductive control systems. HEDSTROM, S. E., and ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. March 25, 1947, No. 15482/49. Divided out of and addition to 634,196 under which a Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 29, 1947. [Class 38 (iv)] In a system for the low frequency modulation of a higher frequency load current as described in the patent Specification, the modulating windings of the reactors are fed through circuit elements which introduce a lag between current changes in these windings and current changes in the load circuit. As shown in Fig. 1, modulating windings 22 of self-magnetizing reactors 21 through which a load 3 is supplied, are energized by a rectifier 4 shunting the load, the circuit of the windings 22 including a self-heating thermo-negative resistance 9 which in association with a constant resistance 10 causes both the modulation and the desired current lag in the windings 22. The resistor 9 may be additionally heated by the load current. In the arrangement of Fig. 4, current lag in windings 22 is obtained by energizing these from a secondary winding 13 on a gapped core of a reactor 12 fed either from the rectifier 4, as shown, or from across the two self-magnetization rectifiers 24.
