Abstract

634,178. Contact lenses. SCRIVEN, S. S. Jan. 9, 1947, No. 718. [Class 97 (i)] In a contact lens of concavo - convex form, part of the inner surface of the scleral rim is formed as a conical frusturn. As shown, the lens 1, having a corneal portion 2, spaced from the cornea 8 to allow passage of lachrymal fluid, and a scleral rim 3, is formed so that the portion of the inner surface of the rim 3 lying between the lines 12 and 13 is flat and tangential to the eyeball 4, while the rest of the rim is curved to make surface contact with the eyeball at 16. The part 16 of the scleral rim may have an undulating inner surface.
