Abstract
633,172. Bookbinding. SPIRAL BINDING CO., Inc. Aug. 8, 1947, No. 21878. Convention date, July 15, 1940. [Class 16] In a book a plurality of sheets I are loosely bound together by a helical or like binder 4, the perforations 3 in the sheets are so arranged that the binding and side edges are contained in planes sub- stantially perpendicular to a plane containing the top sheet. The perforations of each sheet are arranged in a row substantially parallel with its binding edge, the rows of perforations of the sheets being variably spaced from the binding edges of the sheets in a graduated manner and the successive perforations in the sheets being variably spaced from a side edge of the book so that a line extending through the centres of a set of successive perforations will be bent and inclined to the plane containing the side edges of the sheet. The perforations may be formed by the paper drilling machine described in Specification 599,067, [Group VIII].
