Abstract
631,741. Screening-apparatus. SHEEPBRIDGE COAL & IRON CO., Ltd., and DOWSWELL, N. A. Nov. 5, 1946. No. 32830. [Class 117] [Also in Group XXX] Apparatus for screening materials comprises a grid consisting of two sets of alternate bars 11, 12, with recessed side faces, the bars 11 being supported by a bearer 15 secured to eccentric housings 16 mounted on opposite ends of a shaft 17, while the bars 12 are similarly supported on a shaft 21 at the other end of the grid. The bars 11, 12 are also supported, respectively, by auxiliary bearers 36, 40 which are provided with trunnions carried on the upper ends of swing links 42. The shafts 17, 21 are driven synchronously by an electric motor, the eccentric housings 16, 20 being arranged 180 degrees out of phase so that, when either set of bars commences its forward stroke, the other set commences its return stroke. The upper faces of each of the bars may be formed of inclined planes each terminating in a vertical shoulder which prevents rearward movement of the material on the grid.
