Abstract

630,822. Commutating windings for dynamoelectric machines. WESTINGHOUSE ELEC. TRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. Sept. 10, 1947, No. 24875. Convention date, Sept. 12, 1946. Addition to 623,209. [Class 35] In a generator as claimed in the parent Specification the number of windings on each interpole is one less than the number of brushes, i.e. three in a 4-pole, 4-brush machine. The coils on each interpole have a non-uniform number of turns and are connected as shown, 1Q1, 1Q2 and 1Q3 being on one pole and other Q coils as indicated on the other poles. Under some conditions all three coils on each of two poles act in the same sense, but on the other two poles one coil opposes the other two whereas under another set of conditions, depending on the internal current flow between brushes, one coil opposes the other two on all four poles.
