648,490. Exciting dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. July 15, 1948, No. 19041. Convention date, July 18, 1947. [Class 35] An armature-reaction excited dynamo has three evenly-spaced salient poles 3, 4, 5, an armature wound with a pitch of 120 degrees and a commutator engaged by three evenly-spaced brushes 7, 8, 9, of which one pair are shortcircuited at 16 and the output 20, 21 is drawn from the short-circuit connection and the remaining brush. Exciting and compounding windings are mounted on poles 3, 4, the resultant working flux produced by the armature short-circuit current being indicated at 18, 19.
