630,721. Stone cutters. SIFTAR, A. May 20, 1947, No. 13560. Convention date, June 1, 1946. [Class 124] In an apparatus for channelling stone and masonry having a rotary cutting tool driven through reduction gearing by a motor, the reduction gear is arranged in a transportable housing with its main shaft adapted at either end thereof for the selective connection of a flexible shaft driven by the motor or of a rotor of a dust-removing device. As shown the flexible shaft 32 may be connected to either end of a main shaft 11 in a transportable housing 1 mounted on wheels 5 and 9, the main shaft driving through gears a rotary cutter 24. The end of the shaft 11 not occupied by the flexible shaft may carry the rotor of a dustextraction device. The depth of cut may be varied by altering the vertical position of the wheel 9 and the width of the cut by adjusting the lateral position of a flanged wheel, Fig. 4 (not shown), both these positions being fixed by scales. The motor may be portable, e.g. carried on the operator's back, and is controlled by press-buttons 43 mounted on the handle of the apparatus. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states also that the motor may be combined with the apparatus and drive the main shaft directly. This subpect-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
