629,243. Portable greenhouses; cloches. BOOT, G. H. Jan. 16, 1946, No. 1436. [Class 20(i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A small portable greenhouse or large cloche unit comprises a framework of round metal bar or tube consisting of arched transverse members 7 and four or more longitudinals 8, the members 7 and 8 being welded or clamped together. The clamps described are U-shaped and embrace the members 7 while the members 8 pass through holes in the limbs of the clamps, tightening screws which bear against the members 7 passing through holes in the bends of the clamps and nuts on the insides of the bends, the nuts being prevented from turning by the limbs of the clamps. The members 8 project beyond the end transverse members and are pierced near their ends with a diametrical hole to receive split pins to retain end cross-bars 9 slipped over the projecting ends of the members 8. The cross-bars may be removed and two units coupled together by sleeves fitting over the adjacent projecting ends of the members 8 of the two units and secured by U-shaped wires passing through holes in the sleeves and the holes in the members 8. Bent wires 12, 14, 15 are secured to the members 7, 8, 9 to locate and hold glass sheets in position, those wires 14 holding the top edges of the top sheets being secured to the apices of the members 7 by U-shaped clamps as described above and being so shaped as to be capable of holding the top sheets in alternative positions for ventilation purposes. The ends of the members 7 may project below the bottom members 8 and may be pushed into the ground. Specification 579,634 is referred to.
