Abstract
627,635. Centrifugal separators. ALEXANDER, W. March 17, 1947, No. 7261. [Class 23] An up-flow centrifugal dust-separator comprises a vortex chamber 1 having an inlet 3, a nearby dust receiver 8 connected to the chamber by at least one passage 11, and a duct 7 passing from the top of the receiver to the chamber and having an outflow downward and concentric with the gas outlet 5 of the chamber. The passage 11 permits tangential entry into the receiver which acts as a further separator. The inlet of the vortex chamber may be tangential and straightening vanes may be provided in the gas outlet.
