Abstract
627,380. Grinding. DRABBLE & SANDERSON, Ltd., and PARSONS, G. W. July 28, 1947, No. 20344. [Class 60] [Also in Group XXII] In a device for reducing the effective " set " of a circular saw, a housing 10 fixable to a bench &c. has fixed and rotatable bosses 11, 12 for respectively, accommodating the saw 13 at their interfaces and upon a spindle 14 at the common axis of the bosses, whilst radial means such as the arm 15 extends from the rotatable boss and carries an adjustably positionable tool 16 with a renewable grinding element 17 capable of being adjustably positioned in said tool and having its operative face towards the sides of the saw teeth and spaced from the face of the saw, e.g. by means of set-screws 20, a distance determined by the amount of " set " required. Preferably the spindle 14 is integral with the fixed boss 11 which latter is removably seated in either of pockets 22, 24 in the housing, so that the saw may be arranged either horizontally as shown, or vertically. In use, the set screws 20 are adjusted for the desired amount of " set," and the arm 15 is rotated over the saw surface; where the " set " is too great, the teeth are ground by the element 17.
