Abstract
558,974. Grinding-machines. BEDFORD, A. C. Aug. 1, 1942, No. 10799. [Class 60] Apparatus for imparting radial top rake to cutting tools comprises means for traversing the tool past a grinding wheel having the desired radius, or a periphery with a transverse section with that radius. As shown in Fig. 5 the wheel 10 is of the desired radius and the tool 14 is traversed in the direction of the wheel axis. In Fig. 1 the transverse periphery of the wheel is of the desired radius and the tool 14 is traversed at right-angles to the wheel axis. For this purpose the tool is set against an adjustable stop 40a on a platform 15 which is traversed by means of a hand lever 32 across a table 31b pivotally mounted at 30 on a cross member which in turn is pivotally mounted on a vertically adjustable spider 24 provided with guiding members 25.
