[Class 35] [Also in Group XXXVII] The core 1 of an electromagnet for relays, electric bells, etc; is provided with a flat poleshoe 3 such that the product of its thickness d and the circumferential length A, B, C, of the botmdary between the core and the projecting part of the pole-shoe 02, divided by the crosssectional area of the core O1, is less than the area of the part 02 of the pole-shoe projecting from the core divided by the total area of the magnetic air-gap 01+02. It is stated that this produces a more uniform pull by preventing saturation of the core. Hinged armatures may be used and an extension of the core parallel to the motion of the armature may be added.
