[Class 52 (v)] A garment hanger comprises a backstop having two side frames fixed at right angles thereto with a jamming member 24 pivoted at 31 to a bar 25 swingably mounted at the outer lower ends of the frames, the axes of pivot being arranged mutually at right angles. The side frames each comprises inner and outer vertical standards 15, 16 joined at the upper ends by cross bars 17. Upstanding pegs 19 formed on the outer standards provide reinforcements for the cross-bars. The lower ends of the inner standards 15 are provided with bearing openings to accommodate trunnions formed on a coat hanger. The arrangement is such that garments are separately supported on the hanger, the trousers being introduced between the backstop and the jamming member and on being released are clamped therebetween. Shoulders on the inner vertical standards provide supports for the clamping member. The vertical pivot mounting of the jamming member 24 on the bar 25 allows for the varying thickness formed in the folding of the trousers. The backstop may be directly attached to a wall or the like or may be provided with a suspension hook 14 as shown. The lower end of the backstop may have a hole to accommodate the hook of a centrally suspended coat hanger.
