625,547. Floor drains. JOSAM MANUFACTURING CO. Aug. 8,1947, No. 22026. Convention date, April 24, 1946. [Class 20 (iv)] A floor fixture for embedding in a concrete floor comprises an open bowl-like structure connected by a bottom outlet to the sewer, its upper part having a loosely fitting threaded sleeve which carries the drain grating, thus allowing the grating to be adjusted to lie flush with the floor after the concrete has been poured and levelled, but before it sets. In one form, a bowl-like structure 11, preferably of cast iron, has a bottom sewer connection, 12. The inside of the upper part of bowl 11 is internally threaded to take a loose-fitting threaded sleeve 24, which is provided with an internal ledge 27, forming a support for grating 30. The grating level can thus be adjusted vertically by rotating sleeve 24 or inclined slightly by forcing a wedge between the sleeve and the bowl. On installation, the main body of the fixture is attached to the sewer so that, with the sleeve 24 in its mid-position, the level of the grating corresponds with that of the intended floor level. The floor concrete is poured and levelled and before it sets, sleeve 24 is adjusted to bring grating 30 exactly flush with the floor. The concrete around the grating is then smoothed off.
