625,132. Making electric discharge tubes. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and SCOTT, W. J. Sept. 23, 1946, No. 28440. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Soldering.-In a method of hermeticallysealing metal tubes, e.g. for electron valves &c., a tubular member of solder, brazing alloy or the like is inserted in the tube, the walls of which are crimped by dies, with simultaneous or subsequent heating. The dies may be corrugated and the solder self-fluxing and a brazing alloy may comprise a split silver-solder tube. Iron tubes may first be lined or interiorly plated with copper. A silver brazing alloy known commercially under the Registered Trade Mark " Sil Fos " may be used.
