Abstract

412,075. Making pipe elbows. CORNELL, E. S., 21, Orsini Drive, Larchmont, New York, U.S.A. Sept. 25, 1933, No. 26385. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv).] Angular bending ; flanging.-In bending metal elbows, a tube 20 with slanting edge 22 is pushed by a stepped punch 26 into a split die 23 with an angular part 24 forming an offset abutment. Sockets are formed on the elbows by enclosing the elbow within a split die 30 and expanding the ends in succession by descent of a punch 37. The elbow is positioned by a plug 35. The sockets are formed to a clear bore through the pipes connected.
