Abstract
624,973. Scouring pad. GOODLOE, A. M. July 18, 1947, No. 19318. [Class 28(ii)] [Also in Group XXII] The length of tubular metal fabric is formed into a scouring pad by tying a loose knot 10 in the middle, turning one free end C inside out and down to telescope over the knot and the other free end B as in Fig. 4, then rolling up inside out both free ends together, Fig. 5, until they come to the knot which is then located in the middle of the roll 11, Figs. 1 and 6. The wire of which the fabric is made is preferably flat to provide sharp edges for abrasive action. A stronger pad may be got by doubling one end up over itself or doubling both ends, before telescoping one end over the other. Such doubling may also be done before knotting, so that the double parts become incorporated in the knot. Additional plies may be similarly made in the original fabric before knotting &c. The original fabric may be composed of both wire and vegetable yarns. The pad, not being secured by rivets, can be unrolled and opened out for cleaning.
